Fireflies

Fireflies is a culmination of 16 weeks of work split between five teams and the executives of the project. It is a vertical slice of a 3D stealth puzzle-action adventure game set within a single section of a whimsical, dark cavern environment where light is both a tool and a risk.

Made in collaboration with Noctua Interactive, the senior seminar class of spring 2026 delivered a completed and playable test version of a game concept which was presented in the fall of 2025 and was worked on from January to April of 2026.

Here is the link to the website built by the web team for the game.

Favorite Parts

Building on a concept themed around light and shadow while layering world lore to fit the vibe.

Seeing the concept art bring to life a 3D form that is playable.

The opportunity to work on an actual video game.

Writing

Taking a small bit of lore and up-scaling it for an entire game while utilizing the concept of light and darkness fulfilled a small portion of what I want to do after finishing college. I write a lot in my spare time so getting to actually make something that people will see, enjoy, and want more of is its own kind of rewarding. Putting my narrative skills to the test has taught me to better accept criticism.

Collaborating

Getting to create things with words and then seeing someone bring those things to life visually was incredible because the quality of the art got me even more invested into the game. Working with the various teams to come up with what works and what doesn’t. The game team and design team borrowed my input a few times. The web team needed text for the website so they came to me to rework the AI generated text into something that was human.

Another game I worked on with a group is Tempest Fall. Race the clock and beat the storm if you can. Paradoxical portals lead to new lands with every dive.
