Born from the desire to make something new and to experience something more than just one path from the same starting point. The story follows a girl, her strange creature companion, and the friends and enemies made along the way. Exploring a new world that has parallels to ones she’s forgotten.
With twists and turns around every decision, whether she suffers or finds happiness is up to you. The variety of paths to choose from include almost 90 text box options for the entire work made with Twine.

Favorite Parts
Starting at a single point and dragging the main character around to explore all the options available was fun.
Utilizing portions of the narrative that would have ended up discarded from the final work if it was a linear format.
Getting to throw in concepts from all my inspiration media sources was also fun since I got to build on a somewhat common concept to make it my own.
Coding
Given that I didn’t actually hand code anything for this project, if given the chance I would so that it is in a more appealing format. Since Twine is an open source tool which allows for changes to be made through the code. This project was my first time using Twine which means that it is very bland and boring. The design of the working code is unappealing and gives no life to the project.
Narrative
I loved following a story through all the discarded ideas that I wouldn’t have used in a linear narrative. Getting to make certain characters behave completely differently depending on path prerequisite was exciting since it’s out of left field sometimes. I’d like to go back and give life to a few more lexias so that some of them don’t go through five single options one after another too.
If this project was cool then check out this one!
The Journey Home is the story of my cats from their perspective under my best guess based on how they act. Made as a Figma presentation as it was previously a Google Slides display.
